Awaiting a Humble Return

Acacia Tree, Rift Valley, Monduli District, Arusha Region, Northern Tanzania, 2009

Such sights await me yet again! As these remaining days pass I am maintaining persistent yet distant thoughts of what may be in store once more. I try to waste no time with sensationalized ideas of forthcoming events as my mind wanders through many approaching possibilities. There is a chance
that during my time abroad I will find an ideal direction in which to focus my energy and talents and discover future employment opportunities or productive involvement in projects, but I know that I must be realistic in every step of the way so as not to get caught up in the incredible visions that can so easily overwhelm my hopes for success in Tanzania. I look forward to positive realizations at this new juncture, but I also expect and welcome the fact that my journey may bring with it some character-building challenges unforeseen. And so, I shall aspire to maintain a safe, humble, and spirited approach to this well-intended excursion with the hopes that it may avail the cultivation of true joy and success as I take a much needed break from the common flow of life in my little pockets of familiarity in the West.

  1. Too often travel, instead of broadening the mind, merely lengthens the conversation. ~Elizabeth Drew

I think we can all agree that broadening your mind is of primary interest to you. Anyone who doesn't agree is indeed, oh indeed, a hater.

My hope for you on this journey is that you find the direction and passion you seek. And within your quest discover that your direction was never actually a question to be sought but inborn all along. I hope that you find the ability to use your many talents to create a self-fulfilling feeling of success for you and those around you. I guess what I'm really trying to get at is, please find something awesome to do so that I can come and be awesome with you. I love you, bro.

    Kwa maisha marefu.
